Il viale collega Place de Brouckère, come estensione di Boulevard Anspach, con Place Charles Rogier dove confluisce nella piccola cintura. Il viale corre parallelo alla via dello shopping più trafficata di Bruxelles, Rue Neuve. È stato organizzato un concorso di architettura per stimolare lo sviluppo di nuovi viali. - De Adolphe Maxlaan (Frans: Boulevard Adolphe Max) is een van de grote lanen in het centrum van Brussel. De laan verbindt het De Brouckèreplein, als verlengde van de Anspachlaan, met het Rogierplein, waar hij uitmondt op de Kleine Ring. De laan loopt parallel aan Brussels drukste winkelstraat, de Nieuwstraat. Om de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe lanen te stimuleren schreef men een architectuurwedstrijd uit. De eerste prijs werd in 1876 toegekend aan een gebouw aan de Adolphe Maxlaan, Hier ist in den kater en de kat van architect Hendrik Beyaert. (nl)
