William J. Stone (birth unknown – death unknown) was an English rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1910s and 1920s. He played at representative level for Great Britain and England, and at club level for Hull FC, as a three-quarter back. He was captain of Hull during the 1921–22 and 1922–23 seasons. Stone was selected to go on the 1920 Great Britain Lions tour of Australia and New Zealand. He won caps for Great Britain while at Hull in 1920 against Australia (3 matches), and New Zealand (3 matches), and in 1921-22 against Australia (2 matches).
