He is recognized for his activism against malaria. His campaign against the disease reduced the number of cases in Venezuela to almost zero during the 1950s, giving place to more exploitable territory and population growth. (en)
- Arnoldo Gabaldón Carrillo (Trujillo, Estado Trujillo, 1 de marzo de 1909 — Caracas, 1 de septiembre de 1990) fue un médico, investigador y político venezolano. Gabaldón es reconocido por su importante activismo contra la malaria en Venezuela. Entre 1950 y 1960 organizó la primera campaña nacional en el mundo contra esta enfermedad, mediante la utilización de dicloro difenil tricloroetano (DDT), la cual permitió que Venezuela se convirtiese en el primer país en erradicar la enfermedad.
