Die Spiele wurden nach dem Vorbild der Olympischen Sommerspiele durch den Militär-Weltsportverband (Conseil International du Sport Militaire) ausgetragen. - The 2003 Military World Games was an international multi-sport event for military personnel which was held in Catania, Italy from 4–11 December 2003. It was the third edition of the Military World Games, competition organised by the Conseil International du Sport Militaire. A total of 84 nations were represented at the event, with some 2800 military servicemen and women competing in the tournament. The games opening ceremony took place at the Stadio Angelo Massimino in front of 5000 spectators. (en)

- 3. Światowe Wojskowe Igrzyska Sportowe – multidyscyplinarne zawody dla sportowców-żołnierzy zorganizowane pod auspicjami CISM między 4 i 11 grudnia 2003 w Katanii na Sycylii. W imprezie wystartowało ok. 2800 zawodników z ponad 80 krajów. Najwięcej medali zdobyli reprezentanci Chin łącznie 58 (w tym 31 złote, 15 srebrne oraz 12 brązowe). (pl)
- Os Jogos Mundiais Militares de 2003 ou 3ºs Jogos Mundiais Militares do CISM foram um evento multiesportivo militar ocorrido entre 4 e 16 de Dezembro de 2003 na cidade de Catânia, Itália. O evento estava inicialmente cogitado para ser realizado em Madri, Espanha, porém a cidade espanhola desistiu e Catânia, situada aos pés do vulcão Etna acabou por sediar o evento, que mesmo com pouco tempo para organizar, tornou-se um sucesso.
