The 1972 United States presidential election in New Hampshire took place on November 7, 1972, as part of the 1972 United States presidential election, which was held throughout all 50 states and D.C. Voters chose four representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. Nixon took 63.98% of the vote to McGovern's 34.85%, a margin of 29.12%. New Hampshire in this era normally leaned Republican, having not gone Democratic since the nationwide Democratic landslide of 1964. Nixon had previously won New Hampshire in both 1960 and 1968.
