The Breadknife is a volcanic dyke in New South Wales, Australia. It is nearly 90 metres high, but often is only 4 m wide, which is particularly rare. The Breadknife was part of a large shield volcano, that first erupted about 17 million years ago and stopped about 13 million years ago. It is composed of peralkaline trachyte.

Das Breadknife ist Teil eines aktiven Schildvulkans, der in der Zeit vor 17 bis 13 Millionen Jahren eruptierte. Dieser Vulkan formte die Warrumbungle Range, die etwa 1000 m hoch war und heute weitestgehend erodiert ist. Das Breadknife wurde durch glühendes Magma gebildet, das in weichem Gestein erstarrte und eine härtere und beständigere Schicht als das umgebende Gestein bildete. Als das Weichgestein verwitterte, wurde das Breadknife aus Basalt freigelegt. Zum Breadknife führt ein Wanderweg vom Pincham-Parkplatz am Pirey Creek entlang, der etwa fünf Stunden dauert und den Aufstieg zum Fuß des Berges selbst durch befestigte Steighilfen erleichtert. Nearby volcanic remnants include the Belougery Spire, Belougery Split Rock, Crater Bluff, Bluff Mountain and Mount Exmouth. A network of walking tracks are used to access the steep mountains and ridges surrounding the dyke. The shortest walk completely around the Breadknife is hard and steep, taking roughly five hours to complete. (en)

Lawa zaś pozostała bardziej oporna na działanie zewnętrznych czynników atmosferycznych pozostawiając swój ślad w formie ostrych i cienkich formacji skalnych.
