The Nantes Congress was the sixth national congress of the French Socialist Party (Parti socialiste or PS). It took place from 17 to 18 June 1977, directly after the left's victory in the local elections. At the Congress, the more moderate François Mitterrand comprehensively defeated the left wing challenger Jean-Pierre Chevènement.

Le congrès a lieu au lendemain des élections municipales marquées par une large victoire de la gauche. L'alternance paraît proche et inévitable. Michel Rocard lance un débat sur les « deux cultures » qui traversent la gauche française (« la deuxième gauche, décentralisatrice, régionaliste, héritière de la tradition autogestionnaire, qui prend en compte les démarches participatives des citoyens, en opposition à une première gauche, jacobine, centralisatrice et étatique »).La majorité sort renforcée sur la ligne de la réaffirmation de l'union de la gauche.
