Martina Sáblíková of the Czech Republic successfully defended her title from the previous season by winning all races, while Stephanie Beckert of Germany came second, and Claudia Pechstein, also of Germany, came third.

Titelverdedigster was de Tsjechische Martina Sáblíková die het vorige seizoen ondanks een stroeve start toch de laatste drie wedstrijden en het klassement won. Dit keer was ze een stuk overtuigender, ze won namelijk alle zes de wedstrijden.
