| - El Waalo (o Oualo) és una regió històrica del Senegal, centrada en el delta del riu Senegal, al nord-oest del país, al voltant de Sant-Louis. L'un dels antics regnes sorgits de l'esclat de l'imperi wòlof del Djolof al XVIe segle, el regne del Waalo estava situat al nord del Senegal i al sud de Mauritània i ocupava una posició estratègica entre el món arab-berber i l'Àfrica negra. - Walo (wólof: Waalo) era un reino en el bajo río Senegal en África Occidental, en lo que hoy son Senegal y Mauritania. Incluía partes del valle propiamente dicho y zonas al norte y al sur, extendiéndose hasta el Océano Atlántico. Al norte había emiratos árabes; al sur, el reino de Cayor; al este, Wólof. Waalo fue fundada en 1287. La figura semi-legendaria , era de este reino. La misteriosa figura gobernó el Imperio wólof. Bajo NDdiadian, Wólof hizo de Waalo un vasallo. (es)

- Walo (Wolof: Waalo) was a kingdom on the lower Senegal River in West Africa, in what are now Senegal and Mauritania. It included parts of the valley proper and areas north and south, extending to the Atlantic Ocean. To the north were Moorish emirates; to the south was the kingdom of Cayor; to the east was Jolof. Waalo was founded in 1287. The semi-legendary figure NDiadiane Ndiaye, was from this kingdom. The mysterious figure went on to rule the Jolof Empire. Under Ndiadian Ndiaye, Jolof made Waalo a vassal.
