Das bereits zur Zeit der Daguerreotypie im 19. Jahrhundert entwickelte Kamerakonzept wird in meist variierter Bauform auch für die Digitalfotografie genutzt.Die Bezeichnung Fachkamera weist darauf hin, dass man mit diesen nach allen Regeln des Fachs der Fotografie arbeiten kann.
