| - El comtat de Penthièvre -en bretó Penteür [pεnteyr] - fou una jurisdicció feudal de Bretanya, situat a l'est i sud de Saint-Brieuc a l'est del modern departament de Côtes-d'Armor. Formava amb el comtat de Goëlo un dels dos arxidiaconats de la diòcesi de Saint Brieuc. Les capitals històriques són Saint-Brieuc i Lamballe. Limitava amb el baix , el riu , l'alt al sud fins a La Chèze on tocava al territori del vescomtat de Porhoët (diòcesi de Saint Malo) i al vescomtat de Rohan al país anomenat Vannetais (Vannes). Els comtes de Penthièvre, cadets dels ducs de Bretanya, dominaven a més del Penthièvre, el comtat de Goëlo i el comtat de Guingamp, necròpolis familiar; al final de l'edat mitjana el comtat s'estenia per la major part del que avua dia és el departament de Côtes d'Armor. - Die Grafschaft Penthièvre lag im Nordosten der Bretagne und entsprach weitgehend dem heutigen Département Côtes-d’Armor; sie wurde 1034 geschaffen, als Herzog Alain III. für seinen Bruder Odo eine Herrschaft suchte, und diente in der Folge als Paragium der jüngeren Söhne der Herzöge der Bretagne. Penthièvre kam ebenfalls durch Heirat an die Häuser Brosse und Luxembourg und wurde von König Karl IX. 1569 zum Herzogtum erhoben, das aber in der Folge an die Krone fiel. (de)
- In the 11th and 12th centuries the Countship of Penthièvre (Breton: Penteur) in Brittany (now in the department of Côtes-d'Armor) belonged to a branch of the sovereign House of Brittany. It initially belonged to the House of Rennes. Alan III, Duke of Brittany, gave it to his brother Eudes in 1035, and his descendants formed a cadet branch of the ducal house. The geographical region of Brittany that constituted the holdings of Penthièvre correlate closely with the territories that constituted the early Breton kingdom of Domnonée. (en)

- Fra l'XI e il XII secolo il titolo di Conte di Penthièvre, poi elevato allo status ducale, legato al feudo in Bretagna, attualmente localizzato nella Côtes-d'Armor, appartenne a un ramo della casa regnante di Bretagna. Nel 1669 Penthièvre andò in eredità a Luigi Giuseppe di Borbone-Vendôme, ma un decreto glielo tolse nel 1687 per donarlo ad Anna Maria Vittoria di Borbone-Condé, nel 1696 esso venne venduto a Luigi Alessandro di Borbone, conte di Tolosa, il cui figlio Luigi Giovanni Maria di Borbone-Penthièvre ereditò il ducato.
