- The Battle of St. Jakob an der Sihl was a battle of the Old Zürich War that occurred on July 22, 1443, resulting in a defeat for Zürich. The battle took place outside the gates of Zürich, beyond the Sihl (today's Aussersihl district). The troops of Zürich, with Habsburg reinforcements, met the attacking confederates on the Sihlfeld north of St. Jakob on July 21. The confederation army, which numbered about 6,000 men, was met by Zürich's disorganized troops and about 500 Austrian knights. The following morning the confederation army attacked the front and then the left flank of the army. Zürich's forces were pushed back and had to escape across the Sihl into the city. - La bataille de Saint-Jacques sur la Sihl (Sankt Jakob an der Sihl en allemand) s'est déroulée le 22 juillet 1443 près de Zurich dans le cadre de l'Ancienne guerre de Zurich. Opposant les troupes confédérées aux Zurichois, elle se solda par la défaite de ces derniers. Elle eut lieu en dehors des portes de la ville de Zurich, au-delà de la Sihl près de l'actuelle église de Saint-Jacques, sur la place Stauffacher. - Bitwa pod St. Jakob an der Sihl – bitwa, która miała miejsce 22 lipca 1443 r. w trakcie szwajcarskiej wojny domowej 1436-1450. W bitwie wzięły udział armie sprzymierzonych ośmiu miast szwajcarskich, które starły się z wojskami z Zurychu. Z tego powodu wojna 1436-1450 nazywana jest często w źródłach niemieckich wojną starego Zurychu. Wojnę domową starali się wykorzystać Austriacy, którym konflikt zwaśnionych miast szwajcarskich był na rękę w próbie zdobycia nowych terenów. Dlatego też król niemiecki Fryderyk III zdecydował się na zawarcie sojuszu z Zurichem, do którego wysłał nawet swoich rycerzy. (pl)
