Gaasperplas is an artificial lake used for recreational purposes south-east of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Gaasperplas was created with the extraction of sand for the construction of the Bijlmer. At its deepest the lake is 35 metres deep. It was the setting for the 1982 Floriade landscape and flower show, and the Eastern end of the lake is surrounded by parks and woodlands that once formed part of the event. One of Amsterdam's metro lines terminates at the station of the same name located near the north shore of the lake.

- De Gaasperplas is een kunstmatige recreatieplas aan de zuidrand van Amsterdam-Zuidoost, ontstaan door zandwinning ten behoeve van de bouw van Gaasperdam. De plas werd gegraven in de zuidoosthoek van de Polder Gein en Gaasp eind jaren 1960. De Gaasperplas dient voornamelijk als recreatiegebied. Het water is tot 35 meter diep. De Gaasperdammerweg (A9) loopt langs de Gaasperplas en wordt regelmatig genoemd bij de verkeersinformatie. Nabij de Gaasperplas bevindt zich het gelijknamige metrostation. The lake hosts a Sailing club, Canoe, Windsurfing and Dragon Boat facilities, is popular with anglers, and has a sheltered public beach on the south shore. The section for naturism (officially since 2005) lies on the northern side. One of Amsterdam's principal campsites is located in the area. It is not connected to the navigable canals system, and has a prohibition against the use of motorised boats; these two factors contribute towards a good water quality and abundance of wildlife. A public slipway is available for non-motorised pleasure and fishing craft. One of Amsterdam's metro lines terminates at the station of the same name located near the north shore of the lake. (en)

Aan de noordoever bevindt zich de flatwijk Nellestein. Recreatiegebied Gaasperplas van 166 ha maakt deel uit van Groengebied Amstelland. Een gedeelte van het noordelijk aangrenzende Gaasperpark herinnert met zijn fijnmazige patroon van fiets- en wandelpaden nog aan de Floriade op die plek in 1982. Na afloop van de Floriade werden bijna alle toevoegingen verwijderd, zodat een eenvoudiger stadspark overbleef. Aan de Gaasperplas bevinden zich een jachthaventje van een zeilvereniging, een kanovereniging, een windsurfvereniging, een indoor-speeltuin en meerdere ligweides en stranden zowel aan de noord- als aan de zuidoever. Er is een deel waar naaktrecreatie wordt toegestaan en er is een plek voor duikers. Vissoorten die er voorkomen zijn: paling, snoek, baars, snoekbaars, blankvoorn en zeelt, daarnaast: rivierkreeft.
