On September 26, 2009, he was elected president of the Quebec Liberal Party. He is a lawyer by profession, and studied political science at Université Laval and law at Université de Montréal. He was elected in a by-election held on June 11, 2012, which was triggered by the resignation of Tony Tomassi on May 3, 2012. Prior to that, he was an unsuccessful Liberal candidate in the 2007 general election in Chambly electoral district, finishing third. On November 10, 2022, he was named interim leader of the Quebec Liberal Party following the resignation of Dominique Anglade. Marc Tanguay est un homme politique québécois. Membre du Parti libéral du Québec, il est député de la circonscription de LaFontaine (correspondant au quartier Rivière-des-Prairies) à l’Assemblée nationale du Québec depuis l’élection partielle du 11 juin 2012. Il est réélu lors de l'élection générale du 1er octobre 2018. Du 5 septembre 2019 au 16 juin 2020, il occupe la fonction de leader parlementaire de l’opposition officielle à l'Assemblée nationale du Québec. Depuis le 10 novembre 2022, il devient chef intérimaire du Parti libéral du Québec et chef de l'opposition officielle en remplacement de Dominique Anglade.
