- Tóth (auch Tót, Tot, Toth) ist ein altungarisches Wort für einen autochthonen Slawen aus dem Königreich Ungarn. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte jedoch änderte das Wort seine Bedeutung und wurde dann später, bis zum Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts, meistens als Bezeichnung für die Slowaken, aber bis zu der frühen Neuzeit auch für die Slawonen und zum Teil auch Slowenen verwendet. Heute ist diese Bezeichnung pejorativ; die aktuelle ungarische Bezeichnung für Slowene ist szlovén, für Slowake szlovák, für Slawone szlavón.
