- Le modèle TLK est un modèle de représentation d'une surface et de ses défauts à l'échelle atomique. Pour les défauts à plus grande échelle, voir l'article État de surface. TLK signifie terrace, ledge, kink, c'est-à-dire le nom anglais des trois défauts principaux :

* ledge : étagère, crête : effet de marche d'escalier dans la surface ;

- In chemistry, the Terrace Ledge Kink model (TLK), which is also referred to as the Terrace Step Kink model (TSK), describes the thermodynamics of crystal surface formation and transformation, as well as the energetics of surface defect formation. It is based upon the idea that the energy of an atom’s position on a crystal surface is determined by its bonding to neighboring atoms and that transitions simply involve the counting of broken and formed bonds. The TLK model can be applied to surface science topics such as crystal growth, surface diffusion, roughening, and vaporization. (en)
- Il modello TLK (dall'inglese Terrace Ledge Kink), anche chiamato modello TSK (dall'inglese Terrace Step Kink) è un modello teorico, sviluppato negli anni venti dai tedeschi Kossel e Stranski, utilizzato nella scienza delle superfici per studiare i fenomeni di formazione e trasformazione della superficie di un cristallo. Il modello TLK parte dal presupposto che l'energia di un atomo sulla superficie del cristallo sia associata ai legami che intercorrono tra tale atomo e gli atomi vicini, per cui per stimare l'energia scambiata con l'esterno durante una trasformazione della superficie del cristallo è sufficiente tenere conto dei legami chimici che si rompono e si formano durante tale trasformazione.
