Społeczność Tebi posługuje się także indonezyjskim i malajskim papuaskim. Sporządzono listę słownictwa tebi. Jego najbliższym krewnym ma być towei (również z grupy zachodniej języków pauwasi), jednakże oba języki są od siebie silnie odrębne, toteż ich klasyfikacja pozostaje niepewna. (pl)
