The Shire of Moorabool is a local government area in Victoria, Australia, located in the western part of the state. It covers an area of 2,111 square kilometres (815 sq mi) and, in June 2018, had a population of 34,158. It includes the towns of Ballan, Bacchus Marsh, Balliang, , Myrniong, Blackwood, Greendale, Gordon, and Mount Egerton, Bungaree, Elaine and Wallace. It was formed in 1994 from the amalgamation of the Shire of Bacchus Marsh, Shire of Ballan and parts of the Shire of Bungaree and City of Werribee.

Das Gebiet gehört zu den ersten Siedlungsgebieten der Schafzüchter in Victoria nach der Gründung der Kolonie in der Port Phillip Bay. Um 1836/38 breiteten sich die ersten Schafherden den Moorabool River entlang aus. In den 1850er Jahren führte dann der Goldrausch zum Zuzug von Siedlern, zumal das Shire zwischen Melbourne und den Goldfeldern von Ballarat liegt. Danach bis heute ist Moorabool vor allem eine Landwirtschaftsregion. Jedoch sind etwa 40 % der Arbeitnehmer des Shires in der benachbarten Millionenstadt Melbourne beschäftigt. (de)
