Rocco Louis Gentilcore (born Welland, Ontario, Canada, June 9, 1924; died Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, October 28, 1993) was an author and a professor of historical geography at McMaster University, in Hamilton, in what is now the School of Earth, Environment & Society. His parents were emigrants from the town of Molinara in the Campania region of Italy. He studied at the University of Toronto and obtained his PhD from the University of Maryland. His research was on the historical geography of Canada, and, in particular, settlement development in eastern Canada during the nineteenth century.
