- Unter einer Kammburg versteht man eine mittelalterliche Verteidigungsanlage, die auf einem Bergkamm oder auf einem Bergrücken angelegt wurde. Bei der Kammburg handelt es sich um eine selten gewählte Bauform. Anlagen dieser Art waren aufgrund ihres Standortes einigermaßen gut geschützt. Nachteilig war nur die Möglichkeit, dass die Burg von zwei Seiten angegriffen werden konnte. Zur besseren Verteidigung wurden meist mehrere Burgen in direkter Nachbarschaft erbaut. Beispiele:

En un subtipo del castillo de colina. Los castillos de cresta no eran un tipo común de fortificación. Si bien los castillos de este tipo estaban relativamente bien protegidos, tenían la desventaja de que podían ser atacados desde dos lados. El castillo montano, ubicado al final de una cresta, está protegido por desniveles en tres lados. The similar spur castle, located at the end of a ridge, is protected by drop offs on three sides. For mutual protection, several such castles could be built within sight of one another.
