- Requiem ist eine klassische Komposition von Karl Jenkins, erstmals aufgeführt und aufgenommen im Jahr 2005. Die Uraufführung fand am 2. Juni 2005 in der Southwark Cathedral statt. Aufführende waren das und Adiemus percussion and brass. Dirigent war der Komponist selbst.Die Solisten waren (Sopran), Clive Bell (Shakuhachi), (Knabensopran) and Catrin Finch (Harfe). Das Requiem weist insgesamt 13 Sätze auf (in der japanischen Kultur eine göttliche Zahl, der besonderer Segen zuteilwird) und zeichnet sich besonders dadurch aus, dass einige Textelemente des üblichen lateinischen Requiemtextes ersetzt werden durch japanische Haiku-Gesänge bzw. mit diesen kombiniert werden. Es enthält auch die (wie auch schon von Gabriel Fauré und Maurice Duruflé in ihre Requiems eingefügten bzw. hervorgehobenen) Sätze Pie Jesu und In paradisum. (de)

Los solistas fueron Nicole Tibbels (voz de soprano), Clive Bell (shakuhachi), Sam Landman (voz blanca) y Catrin Finch (arpa). En este trabajo, Jenkins intercala movimientos con poemas a la muerte japoneses en forma de haiku con los que tradicionalmente se encuentran en una Misa de Réquiem. A veces, el texto en latín se canta a continuación del texto del haiku. Se emplean en la orquestación instrumentos orientales, tales como el shakuhachi, la darabuca, el taiko y tambores de marco. It was premièred at Southwark Cathedral on 2 June 2005, by the West Kazakhstan Philharmonic Orchestra and Adiemus percussion and brass, conducted by the composer. Soloists were (soprano), (shakuhachi), (treble) and Catrin Finch (harp). In this work, Jenkins interjects movements featuring Japanese death poems in the form of a haiku with those traditionally encountered in a Requiem Mass. At times, the Latin text is sung below the text of the haiku. Oriental instruments are included in the orchestration, such as the shakuhachi, the , daiko and frame drums.
