- Pierce the Veil je americká hudební skupina, založená v roce 2007 v San Diegu v Kalifornii. Skupinu založili bratři Vic (zpěv, kytara) a Mike Fuentes (bicí) a později se k nim přidali ještě Tony Perry (kytara) a Jaime Preciado (baskytara). Své první studiové album nazvané A Flair for the Dramatic skupina vydala v červnu 2007 u vydavatelství a do roku 2012 vydala další dvě alba. Další album skupina plánovala vydat v roce 2014. - Pierce the Veil ist eine 2007 in San Diego gegründete Post-Hardcore-Band. Sie besteht aus dem Bassisten und Hintergrundsänger Jaime Preciado, sowie den beiden Gitarristen Tony Perry und Vic Fuentes, welcher auch der Frontsänger der Band ist. Ehemaliger Schlagzeuger ist Mike Fuentes, der jüngere Bruder des Sängers Vic Fuentes. Die Band veröffentlichte bisher vier Alben: Das Debütalbum A Flair for the Dramatic erschien im Jahr 2007 bei dem Label Equal Vision Records. 2010 folgte mit Selfish Machines das zweite Studioalbum. Nach einem Wechsel zur Plattenfirma Fearless Records erschien 2012 Collide with the Sky, das dritte Studioalbum der Gruppe; es wurde 2013 mit der Zusatz-DVD This Is a Wasteland, die eine einstündige Dokumentation sowie drei Musikvideos enthält, neu aufgelegt. Im Mai 2016 erschien das vierte Studioalbum Misadventures. Letztere drei Studioalben stiegen in die offiziellen US-Charts von Billboard ein. Außerdem erreichte die Band mit Misadventures erstmals internationale Chartnotierungen. Im November 2014 wurde der Song King for a Day aus dem Album Collide with the Sky mit einer Goldenen Schallplatte ausgezeichnet, im Oktober 2016 auch das Album. Pierce the Veil spielen Post-Hardcore mit leichten Einflüssen des Progressive Rock. Die Musik der Gruppe wird unter anderem mit Bands wie Emarosa, Alesana, The Used und Chiodos verglichen. Der Gesang von Vic Fuentes erinnert zudem an Claudio Sanchez von Coheed and Cambria. In ihrer Musik verwendet die Gruppe manchmal eher untypische Instrumente wie spanische Gitarren und Castagnetten. Aufgrund der Herkunft der Musiker etablierte sich in der Fangemeinde der Band der Begriff „Mexicore“. Die Liedtexte handeln meist von persönlichen Erfahrungen der Musiker. Haupttexter Vic Fuentes lässt sich beim Schreiben der Songtexte von aktuellen familiären Ereignissen, persönlichen Erfahrungen in Beziehungen, auf Tourneen und von Freunden inspirieren. Pierce the Veil tourten durch Australien, Europa, Südamerika, das Vereinigte Königreich, Japan, Südostasien, die Vereinigten Staaten und Kanada. Auf ihren Konzertreisen spielte die Gruppe unter anderem mit A Day to Remember, All Time Low, Bring Me the Horizon, Sleeping with Sirens, Memphis May Fire, Issues, The Devil Wears Prada, Mayday Parade und Emarosa. Ebenfalls hatte die Band Festivalauftritte bei Rock am Ring, Rock im Park und Nova Rock, dem Soundwave Festival, der Warped Tour, sowie auf dem Slam Dunk Festival, dem Riot Fest und dem . Pierce the Veil gewannen 2010 einen , der durch die Peta2 verliehen wurde, sowie 2013 einen Kerrang! Award. Für die 2013 veröffentlichte Tour-Dokumentation This Is a Wasteland erhielt die Gruppe 2014 einen Revolver Golden God Award. 2014 wurde die Gruppe bei den Alternative Press Music Awards in sieben Kategorien für eine Auszeichnung nominiert, wovon sie drei gewann.
