- دراسات الأداء هي المجال الأكاديمي المختص بدراسة الأداء بشتى أشكاله. إن مصطلح «الأداء» مصطلح عام وقد يشمل معنى الأداء الفني والجمالي مثل الحفلات الموسيقية والعروض المسرحية والفنون الأدائية، والمحافل الرياضية، والمناسبات الاجتماعية والدينية والأحداث السياسية، مثل المراسم والشعائر الدينية والبيانات والتصريحات الرسمية؛ كذلك بعض الاستخدامات اللفظية ومكونات الهوية التي تتطلب القيام بفعل ما وليس مجرد أخذ الأمر على علاته. ومن ثم فإن دراسات الأداء من الدراسات متعددة التخصصات التي تعتمد على نظريات الفنون الأدائية وعلم الإنسان وعلم الاجتماع ونظرية الأدب والدراسات القانونية. تواجه دراسات الأداء تحديًا بوصفها تخصص جديد. وينتقد العديد من الأكاديميين عدم ثبات دراسات الأداء. فمن الصعب أن تستقر دراسات الأداء بوصفها مجال أكاديمي، إما لأن هذه هي طبيعة المجال نفسه أو لأن المجال حديث جدًا بما يحول دون استقراره. ومع ذلك، هناك عدد هائل من البرامج التدريبية المانحة لدرجات علمية تسعى الجامعات لتوفيرها للباحثين. البعض قد أشار إليها على أنها "دراسات متعددة الفروع" أو دراسات ما بعد التخصص". - Performance studies is an interdisciplinary academic field that uses performance as a lens and a tool to study the world. The term performance is broad, and can include artistic and aesthetic performances like concerts, theatrical events, and performance art; sporting events; social, political and religious events like rituals, ceremonies, proclamations and public decisions; certain kinds of language use; and those components of identity which require someone to do, rather than just be, something. According to Mary S. Strine, Beverly W. Long, and Mary Frances HopKins, "scholars in interpretation and performance... recognize and expect disagreement not only about the qualities that make a performance "good" or "bad" in certain contexts, but also about what activities and behaviors appropriately constitute performance and not something else." Consequently, performance studies is an interdisciplinary field, drawing from theories and methods of the performing arts, anthropology, sociology, literary theory, cultural studies, speech communication, and others. Performance studies has been charged as an emerging discipline. As an academic field it is difficult to pin down; which could be the nature of the field itself or it is still too young to tell. In either case, many academics have been critical of its instability. There are, however, numerous degree-granting programs that train researchers being offered by universities. Some have referred to it as an "inter discipline" or a "post discipline." Performance studies tends to concentrate on a mix of research methods. The application of practice-led or practice-based research methods has become a widespread phenomenon not just in the anglophone world. As such research projects integrate established methods like literature research and oral history with performance practice, i.e. artistic auto-ethnographic approaches and verbatim theatre. The documentation of Practice-as-Research in Performance (PARIP), a devoted research project conducted at the University of Bristol between 2001 and 2006, offers a number of inspiring articles and portraits of such research projects and was key for a breakthrough of using creative thinking within this subject field. - Performatyka to nauka o performansie. Jako dyscyplina akademicka za przedmiot badań bierze zachowanie. Performatycy, wykorzystując materiał archiwalny, czyli książki, fotografie, nagrania video, ale też np. świadectwa archeologiczne, starają się opisać to co robią ludzie w określonych sytuacjach. Przedmiotem performatyki jest więc nie tylko spektakl-performans, ale także nasze zachowania codzienne, rytualne, zabawowe itd. (pl)
- Estudos da Performance surgem como um campo de estudos acadêmicos a partir da década de 1970. Campo de estudos interdisciplinar que abarca uma grande variedade de conceitos que foram sendo integrados pelas Ciências Sociais, Antropologia, Drama, Linguística, Filosofia, Estudos Culturais, Literatura Comparada, Dança, Música e Arte. Os estudos da Performance envolvem desde o estudo de formas mais estruturadas de arte, até aspectos da vida cotidiana, inicialmente estudados pela antropologia cultural e pela sociologia. Richard Schechner, diretor de teatro que virou antropólogo e Victor Turner, assim como Franz Boas, Clifford Geertz, Michael Taussig são alguns dos importantes pesquisadores internacionais que deram início aos Estudos da Performance.
