- Pen Sovann (Khmer ប៉ែន សុវណ្; * 15. April 1936 in Chan Teap, Provinz Takeo; † 29. Oktober 2016 in Doun Kaev, Provinz Takeo) war ein kambodschanischer Politiker. Er war nach dem Sturz des Regimes der Roten Khmer ab 5. Januar 1979 Generalsekretär der Revolutionären Volkspartei der Khmer (engl. Khmer People’s Revolutionary Party, KPRP), ab 7. Januar 1979 Verteidigungs- und ab 27. Juni 1981 auch Premierminister der von Hanoi unterstützten Volksrepublik Kampuchea. Er wurde am 5. Dezember 1981 von den Vietnamesen verhaftet und seines Amtes enthoben, weil er gegenüber Lê Đức Thọ die Stationierung der vietnamesischen Truppen in Kambodscha kritisiert hatte. Er blieb bis Januar 1992 in Vietnam inhaftiert. Nach seiner Rückkehr diente Sovann verschiedenen oppositionellen Parteien und war von 2014 bis zu seinem Tod Mitglied des Parlaments. (de)

Posteriormente, tras un altercado con el gobierno de Vietnam, fue expulsado del poder y encarcelado en diciembre de 1981. No sería liberado sino hasta la transición del país en 1992. Tras la llegada al poder de Hun Sen, Sovan formó parte activa de la oposición democrática. Tras las protestas durante las cuales la oposición boicoteó el parlamento, Sovan ocupó un escaño en la Asamblea Nacional por la provincia de Kompung Speu, como miembro del Partido de Rescate Nacional de Camboya, desde 2014 hasta su fallecimiento en 2016. He also served as General Secretary of the Kampuchean People's Revolutionary Party (KPRP) from 1979 to 1981. He was arrested and removed from office in December 1981 by the Vietnamese for irritating Lê Đức Thọ, the chief adviser to the PRK government. He was imprisoned in Vietnam until January 1992. Sovan founded the Cambodian National Sustaining Party, which contested in the 1998 election but did not win a seat in parliament. He later joined the Human Rights Party founded in 2007 and served as its vice president. In 2012, he became a member of the newly founded Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) and stood as an MP candidate for Kampong Speu. He was elected and was sworn in on 5 August 2014, serving until his death in October 2016. (en)
