- The Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA) is an international non-governmental organisation (INGO), founded in 1989 by professionals and development workers from the Horn of Africa to address pastoral and agro-pastoral development from a regional perspective and provide cross-learning at a global level. With headquarters in London, PENHA has established country offices in Ethiopia and Somaliland, with close organisational partnerships in Eritrea, Sudan and Uganda. PENHA's founding director and Global Reconciliation's Desmond Tutu Fellow, Zeremariam Fre, is active on the Board of Trustees, alongside other longstanding members, who serve as Senior Advisers. These include Mitiku Haile, from Mekelle University, who was awarded the 2021 World Agriculture Prize by the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for the Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA). As patron of PENHA, Joanna Lumley has been a tireless supporter. (en)
