- Els odomants (grec antic: Ὀδόμαντες, llatí: Odomanti) foren una tribu de Peònia esmentada per Heròdot, Tucídides, Esteve de Bizanci i Plini el Vell, que ocupaven el districte conegut com a Odomàntica, segons Claudi Ptolemeu i Titus Livi. Aquesta tribu vivia a les muntanyes d'Orbelos, cap al nord-est, a la plana de l'Estrimó, de Mèlnik fins a . Arribaven fins al Pangèon, on explotaven mines de plata i or conjuntament amb els pieris i els satres, segons Heròdot, i a partir del segle vii aC rivalitzaren amb els grecs de Tasos establerts a la Perea Tàsica per controlar les mines. Al nord-oest, el seu territori era a la dreta del regne de Sitalces de Tràcia, d'acord amb la descripció de Tucídides, que diu que habitaven al nord del curs inferior de l'Estrimó quan pren la direcció est. Von dort wurden sie von den Makedoniern in die Landschaft östlich des Strymon verdrängt. In der klassischen Epoche lebten sie am Westfuß des Pangaion-Gebirges. Thukydides bezeugt, dass sie 429 v. Chr. und während des Odrysenfeldzuges von Sitalkes gegen die Makedonier in dieser Gegend siedelten. Die Odomanten waren an der Ausbeutung der Bodenschätze im Pangaion beteiligt und wurden somit in der klassischen Epoche wohl auch von den Thasiten bedrängt. Megabazos hatte bei seinen Unternehmungen in Thrakien Schwierigkeiten mit den Odomanten. Odomanten-König stellte zum thrakischen Feldzug des Spartaners Kleon ein großes Söldnerheer. Dieser und andere Thrakerstämme des Strymonbereiches leisteten 520 v. Chr. Widerstand gegen die persische Herrschaft und den Feldzug des Xerxes I. gegen Griechenland. In der Römerzeit wurde das Siedlungsgebiet der Odomanten als Terra Odomantica benannt. (de)

The Odomanti are noted by Herodotus, Thucydides, Stephanus of Byzantium and Pliny the Elder. The district which they occupied, was called after them, Odomantice (Ὀδομαντική). The tribe were settled upon the whole of the great mountain Orbelus, extending along the northeast of the lower Strymonic plain, from about Melnik (Bulgaria) and Sidirokastro (Greece) to Zikhne inclusive, where they bordered on Pangaion, the gold and silver mines of which they worked with the Pieres and Satrae. (Herod. l. c.) Secure in their inaccessible position, they defied Megabazus. (Herod. v. 16.) The northwest portion of their territory lay to the right of Sitalces as he crossed Mount Cercine; and their general situation agrees with the description of Thucydides (ii. 101), according to whom they dwelt beyond the Strymon to the north, that is to say, to the north of the Lower Strymon, where, alone, the river takes such a course to the east as to justify the expression.
