- Nærøysund ist eine Kommune im norwegischen Fylke Trøndelag, die aus der Fusion der Kommunen Vikna und Nærøy ab 1. Januar 2020 entstanden ist. Die Verwaltung wird auf Rørvik und , die jeweiligen Verwaltungszentren der zusammengelegten Kommunen, aufgeteilt. Die Gemeinde grenzt im Norden an Leka und Bindal, im Süden an Flatanger, Namsos und im Osten an Høylandet. Die Kommune an der Küste Namdalens hat ca. 9600 Einwohner. Der Name der Kommune ist auf die gleichnamige Wasserstraße Nærøysund zurückzuführen, welche die zwei ehemaligen Kommunen getrennt hat und nun als verbindendes Element gesehen wird. Prägende Elemente sind darüber hinaus der Foldafjord und ein Küstengebiet mit Schären und Holmen bestehend aus ca. 6000 Inseln. (de)

The municipality was established on 1 January 2020 after the merger of the old municipalities of Vikna and Nærøy. The municipality is unique in that it has two equal administrative centre: Kolvereid and Rørvik. The other main population centres of Nærøysund include Abelvær, Foldereid, Gravvik, Ottersøy, Salsbruket, Steine, Torstad, Austafjord, Garstad, and Valøya. The 1,346-square-kilometre (520 sq mi) municipality is the 70th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Nærøysund is the 114th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 9,732. The municipality's population density is 7.6 inhabitants per square kilometre (20/sq mi) and its population has increased by 4.5% over the previous 10-year period. (en)
