- Nigel Thrift (Bath, Anglaterra, 12 d'octubre de 1949) és un catedràtic anglès de l'Escola de Geografia i Medi Ambient de la Universitat d'Oxford. És membre del Research Priorities Board (ESRC) i de l'Acadèmia Britànica des de 2003. Ha treballat en diferents comitès consultius del govern del Regne Unit. Els seus camps d'investigació se centren en les noves formes del capitalisme, l'impacte cultural de les tecnologies de la informació, la història del temps i de la consciència del temps, i les ciutats com a focus d'experiment espacial i temporal. Ha publicat Spatial Formations (Sage, Londres 1996) i ha coeditat nombrosos llibres, d'entre els quals destaquen Cities. Reimagining Urban Theory (Polity Press, Cambridge 2002) juntament amb A. - Sir Nigel John Thrift DL FBA FAcSS FRSGS (born 12 October 1949 in Bath) is a British academic and geographer. In 2018 he was appointed as Chair of the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management, a committee that gives independent scientific and technical advice on radioactive waste to the UK government and the devolved administrations. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford and Tsinghua University and an Emeritus Professor at the University of Bristol. In 2016 and 2017 he was the executive director of the Schwarzman Scholars, an international leadership program at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Warwick from 2006 to 2016. He is a leading academic in the fields of human geography and the social sciences. (en)
