- Neotheropoda ("noví teropodi") je velmi početný, druhově bohatý a evolučně úspěšný klad teropodních dinosaurů, a to včetně všech pravěkých i současných ptáků. Jedná se prakticky o všechny teropody s výjimkou velmi primitivních triasových forem, jako byli hererasauridi a rody jako Eodromaeus, Tawa nebo Daemonosaurus. Neoteropodi jsou zřejmě jedinými teropody, kteří přežili hromadné vymírání na přelomu triasu a jury před 201 miliony let. (cs)

- Die Neotheropoda sind eine Gruppe innerhalb der theropoden Dinosaurier. Sie umfasst sämtliche fortgeschrittenere Theropoda einschließlich der Ceratosauria und der Tetanurae, schließt aber einige sehr ursprüngliche Formen aus, wie beispielsweise Eoraptor und die Herrerasauridae. Diesen sehr ursprünglichen Formen fehlen viele der vogelähnlichen Merkmale, welche die Neotheropoda auszeichnet. Dabei ist umstritten, welche dieser ursprünglichen Formen tatsächlich innerhalb der Theropoda klassifiziert werden können: So sieht beispielsweise Langer (2004) als einzige Form, die zwar den Theropoda zuzurechnen ist, jedoch außerhalb der Neotheropoda steht, während er Formen wie Eoraptor und die Herrerasauridae außerhalb der Theropoda klassifiziert. - De Neotheropoda zijn een groep theropode dinosauriërs. De eerste die de naam gebruikte was in 1986 als een vaag begrip voor meer geavanceerde theropoden. De eerste exacte definitie als clade werd in 1998 gegeven door Paul Sereno: de groep bestaande uit de laatste gemeenschappelijke voorouder van Coelophysis en de Neornithes en al zijn afstammelingen. In 1999 gaf Padian een definitie die bedoelde dezelfde inhoud te hebben maar verankerd was op Ceratosaurus. Wilson gaf in 2003 een definitie die toch weer gebaseerd was op Coelophysis daar nieuwe analyses uitwezen dat deze soort tot de meest basale aftakking van de meer geavanceerde theropoden behoorde en niet nauw aan de Ceratosauria verwant was; hij noemde nu echter de volle naam: Coelophysis bauri. Sereno gaf in 2005 ook een soort als vertegenwoordiger van de Neornithes: de huismus Passer domesticus. De oudste bekende Neotheropoda zijn Coelophysoidea uit het Carnien; nog levende vormen zijn de vogels.
