- Muzsikás ist eine ungarische Volksmusikgruppe, gegründet 1973, die hauptsächlich traditionelle Musik aus Ungarn und von anderen Ländern und Völkern der Balkan- und Karpathenregion interpretiert. Das Repertoire von Muzsikás umfasst traditionelle Musik aus fast allen ungarischsprachigen Regionen, unter anderem Lieder und Tänze aus Somogy und Siebenbürgen, aber auch jiddische, südslawische und auch Roma-Musik verschiedener Balkanländer. Die Gruppe hat auch Werke klassischer Komponisten eingespielt, insbesondere von Béla Bartók. 1993 nahm die Gruppe die Platte Máramaros – The Lost Jewish Music of Transylvania auf, mit vorher weithin unbekannter Musik, die durch den Holocaust in Vergessenheit geraten war. Established in 1973, it has also played works by classical composers, especially Béla Bartók, who himself collected folk tunes. The group has recorded other albums and, since 1978, has toured regularly around the world. The group's collaboration with the noted singer Márta Sebestyén has produced a string of highly regarded recordings. The traditional Hungarian folk song, "Szerelem, Szerelem", performed by Muzsikas featuring Márta Sebestyén, featured in the movie The English Patient (1996). Three of their songs are used in the anime film Only Yesterday by Studio Ghibli: "Teremtés" ("Creation"), "Hajnali nóta" ("Morning Song"), and "Fuvom az énekem" ("I Sing My Song"). The name of the group is mentioned by the main protagonists, while the songs play in the background in a prolonged dialogue about the benefits of a natural environment and rural life. (en)

Depuis 1978, le groupe fait régulièrement des tournées à travers le monde. La collaboration du groupe avec la chanteuse Márta Sebestyén a produit toute une série d'albums réputés.En 1993, le groupe a enregistré Máramaros - The Lost Jewish Music of Transylvania, qui fait revivre une musique qui n'était plus connue et avait été perdue lors de la Shoah. Od roku 1973 razem z grupą występował gościnnie Péter Éri, członek grupy Sebő; w 1978 roku odszedł z Sebő, by dołączyć do Muzsikás jako pełnoprawny członek. Po nagraniu albumu Kettő członkowie grupy – niezadowoleni z umiejętności wokalistki wykonującej główne partie – zaprosili do współpracy Mártę Sebestyén, która dołączyła do zespołu w 1979 roku.
