- The Sacred Art Museum of Funchal (Portuguese: Museu de Arte Sacra do Funchal) is located in the Episcopal Palace of Funchal, Madeira. It is made up of collections of painting, sculpture, goldsmithery and paramentaria from the 15th to 19th centuries. In particular, it includes Early Netherlandish painting from the 15th and 16th centuries, which reached Madeira in the 16th century in the so-called golden age of sugar production. The Flemish panels are distinguished not only by their high quality but also by the large dimensions, uncommon in the museums of Europe. Also worthy of mention is the collection of Flemish sculpture, especially from Mechelen and Antwerp. (en)

De collectie gaat van de 15e tot de 19e eeuw en bestaat uit schilderkunst, houtsnijwerk, kerkzilver en liturgische paramenten. Vooral de Vlaamse altaarstukken uit de late 15e en vroege 16e eeuw zijn bijzonder, met onder meer werk toegeschreven aan Dirk Bouts, Gerard David, Joos van Cleve en Jan Provoost. Deze panelen – vaak op groot formaat – kwamen in Madeira terecht in de hoogdagen van de suikerproductie, als betaling voor leveringen in het Europese distributiecentrum Antwerpen. (nl)

É constituído por coleções de pintura, escultura, ourivesaria e paramentaria dos séculos XV a XIX. Das coleções destaca-se a de pintura flamenga dos séculos XV e XVI, a qual chegou à Madeira no século XVI na chamada época áurea da produção açucareira. Os painéis flamengos distinguem-se não só pela sua grande qualidade como pelas grandes dimensões, pouco comuns nos museus da Europa.
