- LV2 ist eine Programmierschnittstelle für Audio-Plug-ins zur Kommunikation zwischen Host-Anwendungen, Audio-Effekten und Filtern unter Linux. LV2 ist der Nachfolger der Linux Audio Developer’s Simple Plugin API (LADSPA). LV2 ersetzt auch die Schnittstelle DSSI zum Einbinden von virtuellen Instrumenten. Der Quelltext wird unter der ISCL bereitgestellt. Während der Vorgänger LADSPA aufgrund fehlender MIDI-Event-Controller nur als Filter oder statischer Klangerzeuger zu verwenden war, lassen sich mit LV2 auch Noten und Controller-Events an virtuelle Klangerzeuger wie Synthesizer und Sampler schicken. Individuelle grafische Oberflächen der einzelnen Plug-ins werden unter LV2 ebenfalls ermöglicht. LV2 umfasst somit eine ähnliche Funktionalität wie die proprietäre Virtual Studio Technology von Steinberg unter Windows und Mac OS. Derzeit befindet sich die Spezifikation der Schnittstelle in der Entwicklung und es sind noch Änderungen zu erwarten. - LV2 (LADSPA Version 2) is a set of royalty-free open standards for plug-ins and matching host applications. It includes support for the synthesis and processing of digital audio and CV, events such as MIDI and OSC, and provides a free alternative to audio plug-in standards such as Virtual Studio Technology (VST) and Audio Units (AU). LV2 succeeds the more limited Linux Audio Developer's Simple Plugin API (LADSPA) standard and replaces the Disposable Soft Synth Interface (DSSI) plugin infrastructure ("LADSPA for instruments"), adding abilities such as MIDI capability, custom UIs, and a system allowing extensibility of the initial standard. Over twelve hundred plugins are now available in LV2 format. Notable plugins include Calf Studio Gear. Software that can host LV2 plugin "bundles" includes Ardour, Ingen, Carla (of ), Qtractor, Traverso DAW, Harrison Mixbus, MusE, Audacity, Ecasound, FFmpeg, , the GStreamer framework and DJing software Mixxx, with currently partial support in LMMS and REAPER. - Dans le domaine de la MAO, LV2 est l'acronyme de LADSPA version 2. C'est une spécification ouverte permettant la création de plugins audio. LV2 est le successeur de LADSPA, créé afin de combler les limitations de cette dernière. Elle intègre par exemple les fonctionnalités fournies par l'interface de programmation DSSI. Les plugins LV2 sont gérés par la station audionumérique Ardour, la version Linux de Audacity, le séquenceur QTractor ou encore l'amplificateur virtuel pour guitare Guitarix. La première version est sortie le 10 février 2008. La version actuelle est sortie le 7 janvier 2021. En 2016, la spécification LV2 sera utilisée dans la pédale d'effet numérique MODDuo, en cours de développement. Le logiciel , issu de Cadence, permet d'utiliser les greffons LADSPA, DSSI, LV2 et VST, ainsi que les banques de son SoundFont, au sein de tout logiciel supportant les greffons VST ou LV2.
