- Kenny Morris (* 1957 in Essex) ist britischer Künstler und Musiker. Morris wurde in Essex als Sohn irischstämmiger Eltern geboren und lebte ab 1973 in London. Er studierte Kunst am Barnet College of Further Education und der Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. 1977 wurde er Schlagzeuger bei Siouxsie and the Banshees, wo er den als Bassist zu den Sex Pistols wechselnden Sid Vicious ablöste. Morris war bei der Einspielung der ersten beiden Siouxise-Alben The Scream und Join Hands sowie bei verschiedenen Peel Seesions beteiligt, verließ aber bereits 1979 die Band. In der Folgezeit widmete er sich zunächst seinem Studium. 1986 war er mit Filmarbeiten u. a. bei den Internationalen Filmfestspielen Berlin zu sehen. 1987 veröffentlichte er die Maxisingle "La main morte" auf Temple Records, die Musik zu zwei Filmen, darunter einer über Auguste Rodin enthielt, jedoch nur in geringer Stückzahl erschien. 1993 zog er nach Kildare in Irland. - Kenny Morris (born Kenneth Ian Morris; 1 February 1957) is an English drummer, songwriter and visual artist. He was the first studio drummer of Siouxsie and the Banshees. He joined the band in January 1977; he had attended their first live appearance at the 100 Club a few months earlier and had been impressed by their performance. Morris's first studio recording with the group was in November 1977 when they recorded their first John Peel session for BBC radio. Music journalist Kris Needs said : "Like as a rhythm machine for feet and guts Kenny Morris' drumming is unorthodox, primitive (in a tribal sense) and far removed from the clicking hi-hats of the fly-strength paradiddle merchants". He played mostly toms. He has been cited as a major influence by several drummers of the post-punk era including Stephen Morris of Joy Division, Kevin Haskins of Bauhaus, and Paul Ferguson of Killing Joke. During the recording of the band's debut single "Hong Kong Garden", producer Steve Lillywhite suggested to him to record the drums separately. Morris did the bass drum and the snare drum first. He did the cymbals and the tom-toms later. Lillywhite also added echo on the drums, adding significant space to the entire recording. NME wrote that Lillywhite's work with Morris "revolutionis[ed] the post-punk band's sound with an innovative approach to laying down the drums". Morris played on the albums The Scream in 1978 and Join Hands. He left the band a few hours before a concert in Aberdeen at the beginning of the Join Hands tour, on 7 September 1979. (en)

En 1976, alors qu'il est étudiant en école de beaux-arts à Londres, il s'intéresse à une nouvelle scène naissante avec des groupes en marge du système. Il assiste au tout premier concert du groupe Siouxsie and the Banshees au festival punk organisé au Club 100 le 21 septembre, un club situé dans un sous-sol d'un immeuble sur l'avenue Oxford Street. Il est impressionné par la prestation du groupe. Il rejoint brièvement un groupe éphémère The Flowers of Romance qui comporte la guitariste Viv Albertine et Sid Vicious au chant. Début janvier 1977, il décide de devenir le batteur de Siouxsie and the Banshees. Ils donnent leur premier concert un mois plus tard. Kenny Morris enregistre deux albums studios avec le groupe : The Scream en 1978 et Join Hands en 1979. Il quitte définitivement le groupe en septembre 1979 en pleine tournée britannique lors d'une escale à Aberdeen en Écosse à la suite d'un désaccord avec le manager et les deux membres fondateurs de groupe, la chanteuse Siouxsie Sioux et le bassiste Steven Severin. Il devient par la suite artiste peintre, sculpteur et vidéaste et quitte l'Angleterre pour s'installer en Irlande, pays de ses aïeux paternels et maternels.
