- Die Heinz Awards sind eine Reihe von Preisen, die seit 1995 von der Heinz Family Foundation (Stifter: Teresa Heinz, H. J. Heinz Company) in Erinnerung an Henry John Heinz III vergeben werden. Sie zeichnen Persönlichkeiten aus, die sich auf einem der folgenden fünf Gebiete mit innovativen Leistungen verdient gemacht haben:
* Arts and Humanities (etwa: Kultur und Geisteswissenschaften)
* Environment (Umwelt)
* Human Condition (etwa: , siehe Conditio humana)
* Public Policy (Öffentliche Ordnung)
* Technology, the Economy and Employment (Technologie, Wirtschaft, Erwerbstätigkeit) Der Preis ist jeweils mit 250.000 US-Dollar dotiert, die Preisträger erhalten zusätzlich eine Silbermedaille. In den Jahren 2009, 2010 und 2011 wurde von diesem Schema abgewichen und es wurden stattdessen zehn Preisträger auf dem Gebiet des Umweltschutzes mit jeweils 100.000 Dollar prämiert. - The Heinz Awards are individual achievement honors given annually by the Heinz Family Foundation. The Heinz Awards each year recognize outstanding individuals for their innovative contributions in three areas: the Arts, the Economy and the Environment. The award was established in 1993 by Teresa Heinz, the chairwoman of the Heinz Family Foundation, in honor of her late husband, U.S. Senator H. John Heinz III. The Heinz Award is considered to be among the largest individual achievement prizes in the world. Two recipients in each of the three categories receive an unrestricted prize of US$250,000 and a cast silver medallion. In 2009 through 2011, the Awards instead did a Special Focus on the Environment, and widened the awards to 10 people, each winner receiving US$100,000 and a medallion. The Heinz Award medallion displays the likeness of Senator Heinz and the words "Shared Ideals Realized" on its front side, which is a quote from the late Senator Heinz. On the medallion's reverse side the image of a globe being exchanged between two hands is displayed. (en)

Le prix est créé en 1993 par Teresa Heinz, présidente des Heinz Foundations, en l'honneur de son défunt mari, le sénateur H. John Heinz III. Le Heinz Award est considéré comme l'un des plus grands prix individuels au monde. Les cinq lauréats reçoivent chacun un prix sans restriction de 250 000 $ et un médaillon en argent massif. De 2009 à 2011, les prix ont plutôt fait un focus spécial sur l'environnement et ont élargi les prix à 10 personnes, chaque lauréat recevant 100 000 $ et un médaillon. Le médaillon du prix Heinz est à l'effigie du sénateur Heinz avec les mots « Shared Ideals Realized » sur sa face avant, qui est une citation du regretté sénateur Heinz.
