- Die ORP Dzik (P52) war ein U-Boot der polnischen Marine im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Das Boot wurde von der Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Ltd-Werft gebaut. Die Kiellegung erfolgte am 30. Dezember 1941 in Barrow-in-Furness / England. Ursprünglich war das Boot für die Royal Navy als HMS P52 vorgesehen, wurde aber schon in der Bauphase an die polnische Marine übergeben.Nach dem Stapellauf am 11. November 1942 wurde das Boot unter dem Namen Dzik am 12. Dezember 1942 in den Dienst der polnischen Marine gestellt. Dzik wurde wie ihr Schwesterboot Sokół hauptsächlich im Mittelmeer eingesetzt. Die beiden polnischen U-Boote erhielten den Spitznamen terrible twins. Dzik zerstörte oder beschädigte insgesamt 18 deutsche und italienische Überwasserschiffe mit einer Tonnage von zusammen 45.080 BRT. U.a. wurden auch zwei feindliche Schiffe geentert.Das Boot nahm 1943 an der Operation Husky, der alliierten Invasion von Sizilien, teil. (de)
- L’ORP Dzik (en polonais : sanglier), ex-HMS P52, est un sous-marin de classe Umpire. Construit au chantier naval de Vickers-Armstrong à Barrow-in-Furness en Angleterre, il est transféré en cours de construction à l'marine du Gouvernement polonais en exil. Il est affecté à la Deuxième Flottille de sous-marins, puis à la Dixième Flottille à Malte, où il arrive le 5 mai 1943. Le 24 mai 1943, lors de sa première mission au sein de la flottille, il attaque et endommage le navire citerne italien Carnaro. Le 15 août, il endommage le cargo italien Goggiam. Le 21 septembre, il coule dans la rade de Bastia le navire de transport de troupes grec Nikolaus avec des soldats allemands à bord. Après la capitulation de l'Italie, il est transféré à Beyrouth à la Première Flottille de sous-marins. Le Dzik accomplit sous pavillon polonais douze patrouilles opérationnelles et coule cinq bateaux pour un total de 8 650 tonneaux de jauge brute. Rappelé en Grande-Bretagne, il arrive à Plymouth le 8 avril 1944. Il est relégué ensuite à Londonderry dans une flottille d'entraînement. Le 25 juillet 1946 il retourne à la Royal Navy. Entre 1946 et 1957, il sert dans la marine danoise. En octobre 1957, il retourne en Angleterre où il est démoli. (fr)
- ORP Dzik (Boar) was a U-class submarine built by Vickers-Armstrong at Barrow-in-Furness. She was laid down on 30 December 1941 as P-52 for the Royal Navy, but was transferred to the Polish Navy during construction. Launched on November 11, 1942, ORP Dzik was commissioned into the Polish Navy on December 12, 1942. Her name meant "Wild Boar" in Polish. 24 May 1943 Near Cape Spartivento, ORP Dzik fired a 4 torpedo salvo and damaged the Italian oil tanker Carnaro (8357 Gross Register Tonnage). After the attack, two Italian corvettes dropped over 60 depth charges. 21 Sep 1943 ORP Dzik fired torpedoes in Bastia harbour, Corsica, France and sank the German tanker Nikolaus (6397, former Greek Nikolaou Ourania) and the German tug Kraft (333 Gross Register Tonnage). 8 Jan 1944 ORP Dzik sank the Greek sailing vessel Eleni (200 Gross Register Tonnage) with gunfire off Lesbos Island, Greece in position 39.37N, 25.43E. ORP Dzik destroyed or damaged 18 surface ships both German and Italian with a total tonnage of 45,080 tons. She participated in Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily, and also engaged enemy surface ships with her 76 mm cannon three times and the crew boarded two enemy ships. The ORP Dzik earned the Jolly Roger. In July 1946, the Polish Navy decommissioned her and returned her to the Royal Navy. In 1947, the ship was transferred to the Royal Danish Navy. She sailed as HDMS U-1 and was later renamed to HDMS Springeren. She was returned to the Royal Navy in April 1958 and scrapped. (en)

Pod biało-czerwoną banderą służył przede wszystkim na Morzu Śródziemnym. „Dzik” i drugi polski okręt, „Sokół”, określane były jako „straszne bliźniaki” (ang.: Terrible Twins). Na zweryfikowanej liście jego sukcesów figuruje pięć zatopionych statków o łącznym tonażu ok. 8650 BRT, trzy zatopione promy desantowe oraz jeden uszkodzony statek przeciwnika. Po zakończeniu wojny został zwrócony Royal Navy, a następnie przekazany marynarce duńskiej, początkowo pod nazwą U1, a następnie „Springeren”. W październiku 1957 roku ostatecznie powrócił do Royal Navy i w kwietniu 1958 roku został zezłomowany. (pl)
