Dudgeon also produced Chris Rea's first hit, the US chart topping "Fool (If You Think It's Over)", and David Bowie's "Space Oddity", and steered many other artists to chart success, including Joan Armatrading and Elkie Brooks. The Guinness Book of Records cites Dudgeon as being the first person to use sampling in music production. He was a founding member of the Music Producers Guild. (en)

- Angus Boyd (Gus) Dudgeon (Woking, 30 september 1942 – Reading (Berkshire) 21 juli 2002) was een Brits platenproducer en ontdekker van samplen binnen de muziek. Hij is bekend geworden als producer voor Elton John, met wie hij het platenlabel oprichtte. Dudgeon werd geboren in Surrey. Na allerlei baantjes te hebben gehad kwam hij terecht als loopjongen bij de van Decca Records. Al snel ging daar het verhaal rond, dat hij bandrecorders kon repareren en ook met de bediening daarvan uit de voeten kon. Hierop voortbordurend ontwikkelde hij zich tot geluidstechnicus, overigens zonder muzikale opleiding. Hij begeleidde The Zombies en John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, maar was ook betrokken bij Tom Jones en The Rolling Stones. Het gerucht gaat dat Dudgeon aanmerkingen had op de uiteindelijke mix van een song van Moody Blues (destijds ook bij Decca) en een aanvaring kreeg met producer Denny Cordell. Volgens Dudgeon zou Cordell uiteindelijk hebben toegegeven dat hij gelijk had. Hij werd ingeschakeld bij albums van Ten Years After, Bonzo Dog Band en Gilbert O'Sullivan. Nadat hij een muziekalbum had opgenomen met Ralph McTell, werd hij ingeschakeld voor het eerste eigen gelijknamige album van de Strawbs. (nl)

- Gus Dudgeon, född 30 september 1942 i Woking, Surrey, död 21 juli 2002 i en bilolycka i Berkshire, var en brittisk musikproducent. Han är mest känd för att ha producerat musik av Elton John, David Bowie och Joan Armatrading. Han var från 1965 gift med Sheila Bailey, som också avled i bilolyckan den 21 juli 2002 utanför Reading i Berkshire i England. I april 2005 uppstod en konflikt mellan David Bowie och Dudgeons efterlevande, som krävde superstjärnan på motsvarande 125 miljoner kronor, som man menade att Gus Dudgeon inte fått trots att han förtjänat dem. Grälet uppstod genom det avtal som producenten och artisten ingick när låten "Space Oddity" gavs ut 1969. Producenten lovades då två procent av försäljningsintäkterna utöver de 475 dollar han fick.
