- Gold Reef City is an amusement park in Johannesburg, South Africa. Located on an old gold mine which closed in 1971, the park is themed around the gold rush that started in 1886 on the Witwatersrand, the buildings on the park are designed to mimic the same period. There is a museum dedicated to gold mining on the grounds where it is possible to see a gold-containing ore vein and see how gold is poured into barrels. And multiple shops around the park can be located. There are many attractions at Gold Reef City, including water rides, roller coasters and the famous Gold Reef City Casino. Gold Reef City is located to the south of the Central Business District off of the M1. It is also the site of the Apartheid Museum. (en)
- Gold Reef City est un parc d'attractions situé à Johannesburg, en Afrique du Sud. Situé sur le terrain d'anciennes mines d'or, le thème général du parc est la ruée vers l'or dans le Witwatersrand. Le parc de 10 hectares se présente par certains aspects comme un véritable écomusée des années 1880. Les employés du parc portent des tenues inspirés de l'époque, les bâtiments sont complètement inspirés de l'architecture typique et l'on y trouve même un musée consacré aux mines d'or. Ouvert modestement en 1980 par la chambre des mines en tant que musée à ciel ouvert consacré aux mines d'or, le site est développé autour de l'exploration touristique d'une ancienne mine d'or (Shaft 14) à partir de 1984 par la First National Bank. En 1989, le site est racheté par Southern Sun Hotels et Empire Amusements qui en font un parc à thèmes. En 1999, la compagnie Gold Reef City est créée et reçoit une licence l'autorisant à ouvrir un casino. (fr)

- Gold Reef City is een attractiepark in Johannesburg, Zuid-Afrika. Het is gelegen op een oude goudmijn die sloot in 1971 en is gethematiseerd naar de periode in de late jaren 1800 wanneer de goudkoorts losbrak. In het park zijn twee mijntorens te vinden. Eén daarvan is verplaatst en stond oorspronkelijk 5 kilometer verderop en is verwerkt in de attractie . Naast Tower of Terror staan er nog 5 andere achtbanen in het park, 3 waterattracties en een 4D-cinema. In totaal staan er meer dan 30 attracties in het park. Naast het attractiepark bestaat het complex verder ook uit het Apartheidsmuseum en een casino van Tsogo Sun. (nl)
