- Franja Morada ("Purple Strip") is the student wing of the Radical Civic Union (UCR), a major political party in Argentina. Founded in 1967, it has led the Argentine University Federation (FUA) since the end of the military dictatorship in 1983. The organization takes its name from the 1918 University Reform. During the storming of the National University of Córdoba, student protestors ripped off the curtains of the Aula Magna and waved them as flags – the curtains were purple, the same color as the stoles of the Catholic clerics who ran the university. Purple thus became the identifying color of supporters of the reform, which sought to democratize universities and end the Church's involvement in public higher education. Franja Morada's "mesa nacional" counts with a secretary general and three adjunct secretaries. Elections to national authorities take place every two years. Since 2018, the secretary general has been Juan Pablo Cebrelli, of the National University of Cuyo. Despite being affiliated to the UCR, it is institutionally autonomous. Internationally, Franja Morada is affiliated to the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY). (en)

La agrupación toma su nombre de un evento ocurrido durante la reforma universitaria de 1918, cuyas exigencias se impulsaron durante el gobierno radical de Hipólito Yrigoyen. Ideológicamente, se reconoce progresista y de centro-izquierda o socialdemócrata.[cita requerida] Si bien mantiene un vínculo histórico y político con la Unión Cívica Radical (UCR), conserva la autonomía de criterios, de autoridades y de decisiones. Su máximo órgano de representación es la "mesa nacional" de Franja Morada.[cita requerida] Desde el retorno de la democracia en 1983 hasta la actualidad, conduce la Federación Universitaria Argentina (FUA, órgano máximo de agremiación de los estudiantes universitarios a nivel nacional), que tiene elecciones cada dos años. Existe un secretario general y tres secretarios adjuntos en un órgano llamado mesa nacional, acompañados por diez secretarios. La elección de la mesa nacional se realiza cada dos años en un seminario o congreso de la agrupación. El actual secretario general de la mesa nacional es Juan Pablo Cebrelli, de la Regional Cuyo.
