Ed Cavanaugh (born August 24, 1928) is a former American football player and coach. He was the head coach at Idaho State University in Pocatello from 1968 through 1971, and at the United States Military Academy from 1980 to 1982, compiling a career college football record of 30–40–2 (.431). Cavanaugh played college football at Duke University; he was a guard and graduated in 1951. In his third season at Idaho State in 1970, the university opened the indoor Minidome (now Holt Arena).
