- Chicago XXV: The Christmas Album is the nineteenth studio album by the American band Chicago, their twenty-fifth overall, released in 1998 on the band's Chicago Records label. It is an album of Christmas songs. The album was re-issued by Rhino Records in 2003 as What's It Gonna Be, Santa? with six additional, newly recorded tracks. Produced by Roy Bittan, the original album – featuring Chicago's interpretations of well-known Christmas classics plus one original tune (co-penned by Lee Loughnane) – was very well received upon its release in August 1998, peaking at #47 in the US and going gold during a stay of 7 weeks on the charts. After Chicago entered into a long-term partnership with Rhino Records in 2002, that label re-issued Chicago XXV: The Christmas Album that same year. It was further decided to record six additional Christmas songs – with Hot Streets and Chicago 13 producer Phil Ramone – and re-issue the whole package in 2003 under a new design, title and sequencing, entitled What's It Gonna Be, Santa?, deleting its predecessor in the process. Guitarist Keith Howland sang his first lead vocal on the track, "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas". This later release reached #102 in the US during a stay of 5 weeks on the charts. (en)

- Chicago XXV is een muziekalbum uit 1998 van de Amerikaanse band Chicago. De band Chicago heeft een tijd gekend dat ze wereldberoemd was, daarna zakte de bekendheid ver weg, met af en toe nog een piek in de verkoop op de Amerikaanse en Japanse muziekmarkt. In 1998 was de band genoodzaakt muziek uit te geven op het eigen label, want Chicago was geheel uit de mode geraakt. Ook het componeren van nieuwe werken wilde niet meer zo vlotten en zo belandde Chicago in de studio om bewerkte kerstliedjes op te nemen. Chicago heeft zich na zijn succesvolle periode met onder meer romantische ballads weer gekeerd naar zijn oorspronkelijke muziek, meer jazz-gerelateerde popmuziek. Dit album, in eerste instantie voor de Japanse markt (waar de band in 1999 nog steeds populair was) kende dan ook verhoudingsgewijs veel blaaswerk; gelijk aan de periode rond het album . In 2003 kwam een herziene uitgave uit, met bonustracks en een andere volgorde en een andere titel: What it’s going to be, Santa. Dat de muziek van Chicago niet overal meer gewaardeerd wordt blijkt uit het feit dat in 2007 de prijs voor dit album varieerde van 1,50 dollar (€ 1,00) tot 10 dollar (Amazon.com, 15 december 2007); in Europa is het album niet overal verkrijgbaar.
