- Bénédict Pierre Georges Hochreutiner (1873, Sankt Gallen - 5 de febrer de 1959, Ginebra) va ser un botànic i eminent taxònom suís. S'instal·la i segueix a la Universitat de Ginebra dues carreres: la de Ciències naturals i la de Teologia. L'any 1896 rep el seu doctorat en ciències per la seva tesi sobre Fanerògames aquàtiques del Rin; i l'any 1911 el seu batxillerat teològic. Des de 1896 va ser curador del Conservatori i Jardí Botànic de Ginebra, i l'any 1931 accedeix a la direcció fins al seu retir. l'any 1934 accedeix a la càtedra de Botànica. Va ser un infatigable explorador, col·leccionant flora d'Algèria i d'Indonèsia, especialment. Pels seus mèrits,el govern francès el va nomenar Cavaller de la Legió d'Honor. (ca)

- Bénédict Pierre Georges Hochreutiner (1873-1959) was a Swiss botanist and plant taxonomist. A native of Saint-Gall, he studied theology and natural sciences in Geneva. In 1896 he was an assistant to John Isaac Briquet at the Conservatoire et Jardin Botaniques at Geneva. In 1901 he made a scientific trip to Algeria, and in 1903–05 was associated with the botanic gardens (herbarium) at Buitenzorg in the Dutch East Indies. In 1906 he was named curator of the Conservatoire et Jardin Botaniques, where in 1931 he was appointed director. In 1919 he became a professor of botany. As a taxonomist, he circumscribed many botanical species. The genus Hochreutinera is named after him, as are taxa with specific epithet of hochreutineri. Among his numerous written works was a monograph on the plant family Malvaceae. (en)
