- Alícia Framis Martín és una artista multidisciplinar catalana. La seva obra s'articula en diferents formats i suports d'expressió artística combinant l'arquitectura, el disseny, la moda, el vídeo i la performance. Framis va estudiar amb l'artista minimalista francès Daniel Buren i amb l'artista conceptual nord-americà Dan Graham. La seva obra sovint qualificada d'art social o de nova performance, és hereva de l'art de la performance dels anys setanta. La seva creença en les limitacions de l'art a l'hora de comunicar sentiments i idees l'han portada a cercar el contacte físic i directe amb el públic mitjançant peces que permeten experiències insòlites. Ha exposat els seus treballs tant a Catalunya com a nivell internacional. Va representar els Països Baixos al pavelló holandès de la Biennal de Venècia de 2003. (ca)
- Alicia Framis is a contemporary artist living and working in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She develops platforms for creative social interaction, often through interdisciplinary collaboration with other artists and specialists across various fields. Her work is project based and focuses on different aspects of human existence within contemporary urban society. Framis often starts out from actual social dilemmas to develop novel settings and proposed solutions. Framis studied with the French minimalist artist Daniel Buren and the American conceptual artist Dan Graham and her work can be located within the lineages of relational aesthetics, performance art, and social practice art. She represented the Netherlands in the Dutch Pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennale (2003). She is currently the director of an MA program at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam, Netherlands and a lecturer at Nebrija University in Madrid, Spain. In 2019, Alicia Framis was awarded with the Lucas Artists Visual Arts Fellowship 2019-2022 in California. Framis's work has been presented widely at museums, galleries, and public spaces throughout the world. Her works are included in numerous permanent collections, including those of Hirshhorn Museum in Washington (US), Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (Netherlands), MUSAC Castilla y Léon (Spain), Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem (Netherlands), FRAC Lorraine (France), Ullens Center for Contemporary Art Beijing (China), El Museo del Barrio New York (US), Philadelphia Museum (US), Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst (Switzerland), Museum Boijmans van Beuningen (Netherlands), The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto (Japan), Rabo Art Collection (Netherlands), Sanders Collection (Netherlands), and VandenBroek Foundation (Netherlands), among others. She represented the Netherlands for the Dutch Pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennale (2003), Moscow Biennale (2009), the 2nd Berlin Biennale (2001), Performa 09 New York, and Manifesta 2 Luxemburg (1998), and has appeared as one of Creative Time's public art projects in New York (2015).
