The season started on 9 April at Brands Hatch; the fourteenth and last round, which was due to be held on the weekend of 7 November in Mexico City, was cancelled on Saturday as a result of track safety issues. - Il campionato mondiale di Superbike 1993 è la sesta edizione del campionato mondiale Superbike riconosciuta ufficialmente dalla FIM. Le gare in calendario furono 13 e coprivano 2 continenti: 11 gran premi si disputarono in Europa e 2 in Asia (Giappone e Malaysia) (rispetto all'anno precedente uscirono dal calendario i due gran premi dell'Oceania). Il 7 novembre era prevista una quattordicesima ed ultima prova del campionato nel continente americano, ma gli organizzatori decisero di cancellare il Gran Premio del Messico a seguito delle proteste dei piloti per l'inadeguatezza del tracciato. I piloti dopo aver svolto le prove si rifiutarono di gareggiare in quanto vicino al circuito vi era un campo da calcio e molti palloni finivano in pista e sul tracciato c'erano alcuni cani randagi. Grande delusione per Fogarty che si vide costretto a lasciare il titolo a Russel senza poter sperare di recuperare il distacco nella classifica mondiale. Il titolo piloti è stato vinto da Scott Russell, che si impose in 5 gare del campionato, mentre il titolo costruttori è andato alla Ducati (terzo successo consecutivo nel mondiale Superbike per la casa motociclistica bolognese). - Het wereldkampioenschap superbike seizoen 1993 was het zesde in de geschiedenis van het door de FIM georganiseerde wereldkampioenschap superbike. Het seizoen telde dertien wedstrijden die telkens door middel van twee races werden verreden. Het seizoen begon op 9 april op Brands Hatch in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en eindigde op 17 oktober op het Autódromo do Estoril in Portugal. Het laatste raceweekend stond oorspronkelijk gepland op 7 november op het Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico, maar deze werd een dag van tevoren afgelast vanwege zorgen over de veiligheid van het circuit. De Amerikaan Scott Russell werd kampioen met vijf overwinningen. Ducati werd kampioen bij de constructeurs. (nl)
