- Η Επανάσταση των Μακεδόνων το 1878, είχε ως σκοπό την κατάργηση της Συνθήκης του Αγίου Στεφάνου, - σύμφωνα με την οποία το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της Μακεδονίας θα προσαρτώταν στη Βουλγαρία - και την ένωση της Μακεδονίας με την Ελλάδα. Είχε προηγηθεί ο κατά τον οποίο η Ελλάδα είχε κηρύξει στις 2 Φεβρουαρίου τον πόλεμο εναντίον της Οθωμανικής Αυτοκρατορίας, όπου οι ελληνικές δυνάμεις μετά την προέλαση τους, υποχωρούν στις αρχικές τους θέσεις έπειτα από μεσολάβηση των μεγάλων δυνάμεων και την υπογραφή της Συνθήκης του Αγίου Στεφάνου. Αναφέρεται ότι επαναστατικές εστίες την ίδια χρονιά, εντοπίζονται παράλληλα με τη Μακεδονία στη και την Κρήτη, με αίτημα την ένωση με το Ελληνικό κράτος. Στη Μακεδονία παρατηρήθηκε μεγαλύτερη προθυμία και ζωηρότερος ενθουσιασμός απ’ ότι στην στη Θεσσαλία. Η επανάσταση είχε δύο κύριες εστίες στη Μακεδονία, η μία βρισκόταν στον Όλυμπο, και η άλλη στο Βούρινο. (el)
- The 1878 Macedonian rebellion (Greek: Μακεδονική επανάσταση του 1878) was a Greek rebellion launched in opposition to the Treaty of San Stefano, according to which the bulk of Macedonia would be annexed to Bulgaria, and in favour of the union of Macedonia with the Kingdom of Greece. This followed the brief Greco-Turkish war of 1878 in which Greece had declared war on 2 February against the Ottoman Empire, only for the Greek forces to return to their bases shortly after crossing the border due to the intervention of the Great Powers and the signature of the Treaty of San Stefano. It is reported that revolutionary outbreaks in the same year, are located alongside Macedonia in Epirus, Thessaly and Crete, seeking union with the Greek state. In Macedonia there was greater willingness and enthusiasm than in Thessaly. The revolution had two main foci in Macedonia, one was on Olympus, and the other in Vourinos. (en)
- La ribellione macedone del 1878 (in greco moderno: Μακεδονική επανάσταση του 1878, lett. "rivoluzione macedone") fu una ribellione greca a favore dell'unione della Macedonia con il Regno di Grecia e lanciata in opposizione al Trattato di Santo Stefano, secondo il quale la maggior parte della Macedonia sarebbe stata annessa alla Bulgaria. Essa seguì la breve guerra greco-turca del 1878 in cui la Grecia aveva dichiarato guerra il 2 febbraio contro l'Impero ottomano, ma che portò solamente le forze greche a tornare alle loro basi poco dopo aver attraversato il confine a causa dell'intervento delle Grandi Potenze e della firma del Trattato di Santo Stefano. Altri focolai rivoluzionari nello stesso anno si verificarono accanto alla Macedonia in Epiro, Tessaglia e Creta, nel tentativo di unione con lo stato greco.
