Philip of Mahdia, a North African of Greek origin, was the emir of Palermo, and successor of the great George of Antioch. He was a eunuch who rose through the ranks of the royal curia in Palermo until he was eventually one of King Roger II's most trusted men. On George's death in year 546 of the Hijrah (AD 1151 or 1152), Roger appointed him to the highest post in the kingdom. Philip was succeeded by the great Maio of Bari.

XII secolo) è stato un ammiraglio bizantino di origine greca o africana; è stato Emiro di Palermo, il secondo nella carica dopo l'ammiratus ammiratorum e successore del grande Giorgio d'Antiochia. Fu un eunuco che percorse il cursus honorum della curia reale di Palermo fino a diventare uno degli uomini più fidati del re Ruggero II. Alla morte di Giorgio nel 546 dell'Egira (1151 o 1152 d.C.), Ruggero lo innalzò al più alto grado del regno di Sicilia. A Filippo succedette Maione di Bari. (it)
