Werkshallen) werden gelegentlich Folien- und normale Tastaturen derart kombiniert, dass Tasten einer normalen Tastatur eine darunterliegende Folientastatur bedienen. - A membrane keyboard is a computer keyboard whose "keys" are not separate, moving parts, as with the majority of other keyboards, but rather are pressure pads that have only outlines and symbols printed on a flat, flexible surface. Very little, if any, tactile feedback is felt when using such a keyboard. Modern PC keyboards are essentially a membrane keyboard mechanism covered with an array of dome switches which give positive tactile feedback. (en)
- Un clavier à membrane ou clavier souple est un clavier informatique constitué de multiples couches de polyester (type PET) imprimées, qui constituent le décor mais aussi les différents circuits. Le décor est obtenu par sérigraphie des différents couleurs et textes, il peut être plat ou comprendre des gaufrages au niveau des touches ou DELs. Les différents circuits (touches, DEL, blindages) sont obtenus par sérigraphie d'encres argent, carbone et de différentes couches de vernis. Sur les circuits peuvent être rapporté des composants cms : DELs, coupelles métalliques (qui donnent sensation tactile) ou résistances. La sensation tactile peut être obtenue par l'insertion de coupelles métalliques mais aussi par un certain gaufrage du polyester pour des claviers d'entrée de gamme. (fr)

Molt poc o cap sensació tàctil és sentit quan s'utilitza aquest tipus de teclat. Teclats de membrana, que operen a través de contactes elèctrics entre la superfície del teclat i els circuits subjacents quan punts clau en la superfície són pressionats, van ser utilitzats en alguns dels primers ordinadors domèstics de l'inici de la dècada de 1980 i des de llavors han estat molt usats en dispositius electrònics en general. Aquest tipus de teclat és barat de produir en massa, de fàcil manteniment, té llarga vida útil i és més resistent a la brutícia i al vessament de líquids del que qualsevol altre tipus de teclat. Per aquestes raons, el teclat de membrana és àmpliament utilitzat en equipaments hospitalaris i industrials, així com en altres dispositius que exigeixin neteja fàcil i constant. A causa de la baixa o no-existent sensació tàctil, moltes persones senten dificultat a teclejar en teclats de membrana. Van ser presentats com a alternativa els «teclats xiclet», que posseeixen el diferencial de permetre que tecles individuals siguin sentits en algun grau. Weiterhin ist die Herstellung preiswert, da keine separaten Drucktasten benötigt werden und die Tastendruckmechanik entfällt. Für den Einsatz in staubiger Umgebung (z. B. Werkshallen) werden gelegentlich Folien- und normale Tastaturen derart kombiniert, dass Tasten einer normalen Tastatur eine darunterliegende Folientastatur bedienen. Die Schichten der Schaltkreise werden unter Verwendung spezieller Silber-, Kohlenstoff- und Isolationsfarben auf Polyestersubstrate gedruckt. Membrane keyboards work by electrical contact between the keyboard surface and the underlying circuits when keytop areas are pressed. These models were used with some early 1980s home computers, enjoying wide adoption in consumer electronics devices. The keyboards are quite inexpensive to mass-produce, and are more resistant against dirt and liquids than most other keyboards. However, due to a low or non-existent tactile feedback, most people have difficulty typing with them, especially when larger numbers of characters are being typed. Chiclet keyboards were a slight improvement, at least allowing individual keys to be felt to some extent. Aside from early hobbyist/kit/home computers and some video game consoles, membrane-based QWERTY keyboards are used in some industrial computer systems, and are also found as portable, even "rollable-collapsible" designs for PDAs and other pocket computing devices. Smaller, specialised membrane keyboards, typically numeric-and-a-few-control-keys only, have been used in access control systems (for buildings and restricted areas), simple handheld calculators, domestic remote control keypads, microwave ovens, and other similar devices where the amount of typing is relatively small or infrequent, such as cell phones. Este tipo de teclado é barato de produzir em massa, de fácil manutenção, tem longa vida útil e é mais resistente à sujeira e a líquidos derramados do que qualquer outro tipo de teclado. Por essas razões, o teclado de membrana é amplamente utilizado em equipamentos hospitalares e industriais, bem como em outros dispositivos que exijam limpeza fácil e constante.
