- Wireless Datagram Protocol (WDP) je transportní protokol v sadě protokolů WAP, který poskytuje vyšším vrstvám podobné služby jako UDP v TCP/IP – přenos datagramů, adresování aplikací pomocí čísel portů, volitelnou segmentaci a sestavování segmentů a volitelnou detekci chyb. Jako obecná transportní služba poskytuje WDP vyšším vrstvách rozhraní nezávislé na používané podkladové síťové technologii. Protokoly vyšších vrstev architektury WAP mohou v důsledku existence společného rozhraní pro transportní protokoly fungovat nezávisle na podkladové bezdrátové síti. Díky tomu, že pouze transportní vrstva se zabývá otázkami závislými na fyzické síti, lze dosáhnout globální interoperability pomocí zprostředkující brány. (cs)
- WDP o Wireless Datagram Protocol es un protocolo usado en la capa inferior de la pila de protocolos WAP 1. Ofrece un servicio funcionalmente equivalente al de la capa de transporte datagrama de Internet UDP. La misión básica de WDP es la de ofrecer a las capas superiores un servicio uniforme, que les oculte los mecanismos usados por la red móvil sobre la que se implanta WAP para transferir datos. Esto permite que los protocolos de WAP puedan funcionar independientemente de la red móvil usada: GSM, GPRS, TETRA, etc. (es)
- Wireless Datagram Protocol (WDP) defines the movement of information from receiver to the sender and resembles the User Datagram Protocol in the Internet protocol suite. The Wireless Datagram Protocol (WDP), a protocol in WAP architecture, covers the Transport Layer Protocols in the Internet model. As a general transport service, WDP offers to the upper layers an invisible interface independent of the underlying network technology used. In consequence of the interface common to transport protocols, the upper layer protocols of the WAP architecture can operate independently of the underlying wireless network. By letting only the transport layer deal with physical network-dependent issues, global interoperability can be acquired using mediating gateways. (en)
