Das Gebäude, eine Außenstelle der Bundeskanzler-Willy-Brandt-Stiftung mit Sitz in Berlin, ist außerdem Sitz der Abteilung Denkmalpflege der Hansestadt Lübeck in Schleswig-Holstein. Es ist nach dem Buddenbrookhaus, das an den in Lübeck geborenen Literaturnobelpreisträger Thomas Mann, seinen Bruder Heinrich Mann und die weiteren Mitglieder der Familie Mann erinnert, dem Günter-Grass-Haus, das dem Literaturnobelpreisträger, Maler und Bildhauer Günter Grass gewidmet ist, die dritte Einrichtung der Stadt, die einen Lübecker Nobelpreisträger zum Thema hat. Leiterin des Willy-Brandt-Hauses ist die Historikerin Bettina Greiner. Willy Brandt wurde nicht in dem Gebäude in der Lübecker Innenstadt, sondern im Stadtteil St. Lorenz geboren. (de)
- The Willy-Brandt-Haus in Lübeck is a museum and a memorial to the late politician Federal Chancellor and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Willy Brandt, of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The Berlin based branch of the federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation also houses the Office of Monumental Protection of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck, in Schleswig-Holstein. It is the third establishment in the city to honor a Nobel Prize laureate from Lübeck. The director of the Willy-Brandt-Haus is the historian, Jürgen Lillteicher. Willy Brandt was not born in this building, but in different house in the Lübeck district of St. Lorenz. (en)
