- The Washington D.C. Slayers were a rugby league football team based in Washington, D.C. who last played in the USA Rugby League. They played their home games at Duke Ellington Field near Georgetown Hospital. The Slayers, along with the Connecticut Wildcats, were established in 2003 as expansion teams of the American National Rugby League (AMNRL). They played in the AMNRL for eight seasons, from 2003 to 2010, making it to the league playoffs six times and advancing to the semi-finals in their inaugural season. In 2011 they became one of seven teams to depart from the AMNRL to form the new USA Rugby League. (en)
