- Der Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden bei Krugersdorp in der Provinz Gauteng gehört zu den staatlichen botanischen Gärten Südafrikas, die vom South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) als Forschungs- und Bildungseinrichtungen unterhalten werden. Der botanische Garten ist eine relativ junge Anlage dieser Art in Südafrika. Er wurde 1982 als Transvaal National Botanic Garden gegründet und auf einem unbebauten Gelände im westlichen Umfeld jenseits von Johannesburg angelegt. Im Jahre 1987 wurde die Anlage als Witwatersrand National Botanical Garden (afrikaans: Witwatersrand Nasionale Botaniese Tuin) für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Seit 2004 trägt er den heutigen Namen, benannt nach Walter Sisulu, einem politischen Weggefährten von Nelson Mandela. Vor der Anlage dieses Gartens befand sich hier ein naturbelassenes Gelände, das schon länger der Naherholung diente. (de)

Forma parte del « South Africa's National Botanical Gard ». Es miembro del BGCI y presenta trabajos para la International Agenda Registration-. El código de reconocimiento internacional del Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden como institución botánica (en el Botanical Gardens Conservation International - BGCI), así como las siglas de su herbario es NBGW. Formally established in 1982, it is one of the youngest of South Africa's National Botanical Gardens, but the site where it is located has been popular with visitors for many decades before that. The garden is home to a well known pair of Verreaux's eagles that nest in the Roodekrans ridge which intersects the reserve. The garden has a restaurant, gift shop and nursery which sells South African native plants (the nursery closed March 2015). The Garden has been recognised as one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world. (en)
